Hurricane Shutter Installation Sound Library
The idea for this sound library came during the installation of accordion-style hurricane shutters on the first floor of my home, in preparation for hurricane season in South Florida. The sounds of the drilling were extremely high in SPL, and rattled the majority of my home. I spontaneously decided to throw up a ZOOM H6 stereo pair of microphones in XY configuration, where I captured quite a few interior-perspective recordings. This library is a culmination of those recordings which primarily consist of drill sounds and resonances against the nearby window panes.
All content was recorded using the ZOOM H6 built-in stereo mics and was later post-processed using iZotope RX and REAPER.
All recorded sounds were broken up into three categories:
- Short
- Brief, momentary periods of drilling (typically < 1.5 seconds)
- Medium
- Slightly longer periods of drilling (typically between 1.5 - 3 seconds)
- Long/Sustained
- Extended periods of drilling (typically at least 4 seconds or more)
Specs:
- Recorded at 24-bit/96 kHz
- Lossless .wav files
- 88 sounds | 18 audio files
- 183 MB (uncompressed)
- Metadata Tagged
- Royalty Free
- UCS Compliant
This is a FREE download, however I'd happily accept any spare change that can fund my coffee-drinking habits :)
