Hurricane Milton Residential Wind Sound Library

As Hurricane Milton was approaching my residential neighborhood in Weston, Florida, I captured some of the light, medium and heavy wind sounds that excited nearby foliage and fauna. Inside of this library, there are short ambiences containing wind gusts, distant vehicle pass bys, palm tree swooshing sounds, overhead aircrafts and more.

All content was recorded using the ZOOM H6 built-in stereo mics in an XY configuration. All sounds were minimally post-processed using iZotope RX and REAPER.

All recorded sounds were broken up into three categories:

• Light
  • Lower intensity wind gusts that occasionally swell into a moderate intensity
• Medium
  • Slightly higher intensity wind gusts
• Heavy
  • High intensity wind gusts that excite nearby palm fronds, trees and other foliage

For the sake of avoiding verbose file paths, all three categories reside within the same root folder (Anthony Turi - Hurricane Milton Residential Wind Sound Library).
